Music video plan

Our initial music video plan was to have a strong narrative with little performance as opposed to what it is now.



We wanted an emotional video that really gave an impact, message and punch but we couldn't achieve this with our original plan because it became to depressing

So we decided to change the original plan and have him mainly performing with small snippets of narrative all coming together to form a message, or something that the audience can decide what they think happened.

this is taken from one of our first edits, there are some aspects of the final footage used, but there are some irrelevant shots, out of place shots or poorly taken shots. there is a shot of the Ed Sheeran character who was going to originally be in it but we changed it all to what it is now.

Audience viewing habits

Today it is easy to access almost any music video,

The internet is one way to find the music videos you are searching for. the main websites for music videos are vevo, youtube and vimeo. Official music videos can also be found on the artists official website. It is now even easier to find the music video you want. you can either type in the video name or now you can filter it to specific needs for example :

YouTube filters music videos by genre making it easier to find what you are looking for. 

official music videos get the highest views, because they are promoted the most and offer the best quality videos.

There are also specific music channels like MTV, Kerrang on the TV  whch allows the viewer to watch videos related tot he genre of their choice, like Kerrang is rock and channels like AKA are rap orientated.

Lyrics Analysis

To decide what shots and narrative aspects to use us as a group sat down and analyzed the meanings of the lyrics and possible scenes and shots we could use for them.

Storyboard

Our original storyboard involved a struggle between a boy and his family life but some of the ideas were to hard to do or some of it seemed depressing. The story board was used as a guideline as the video was further produced.

Costume

In the music video we have two actors, Karl and Ben. Karl will be miming P Moneys rap and Ben miming Ed Sheerans chorus. Karl chose to wear dark clothes, this is a convention of the urban genre along with the hat he is wearing with the word 'Dope' on it. This is a popular word in the urban vocabulary. I think this choice of costume represents the urban genre well and it will come across in the video very well.

Ben is wearing a blue coat and blue skinny jeans along with red trainers. This is a casual look as Ed Sheeran elaborates over many genres so he does not really have a specific style so the look Ben has chosen shows this well.
